Prototype A.1

this was the first prototype bild designed in the wake of hurricane katrina, which forced designers and builders in new orleans and along the gulf coast to assess the unique challenges and opportunities we face as a region. this strategy incorporates a raised 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with a roof deck for stargazing and sunbathing; the covered area beneath this volume provides shaded space for outdoor living. while such spaces are primarily intended for socialization and connection, they can also serve as covered off-street parking. the concepts developed for this prototype were ultimately realized in bild’s milne and lafitte projects.
