Moss
Designed for a large lot on historic Bayou St. John, this project was developed as a home for a growing family. In its plan, a primary structure facing the bayou intersects with a smaller secondary structure to define a rear yard, music pavilion, and garden. The scale and massing of the front volume were informed by the wide expanse of the bayou it faced and the opportunity for sweeping views of the water and the neighborhood skyline beyond. The rear building and interior yard trellis were reduced in scale out of respect for and in reference to the scale of the smaller cottages at the core of the block.
